Querétaro  (full name Santiago de Querétaro) is the capital city of the Mexican state of Querétaro. It was founded in 1531. Its historic centre is a World Heritage Site.  According to tradition, Querétaro was founded on 25 July 1531. On this date Spanish Conquistador Hernán Pérez Bocanegra y Córdoba arrived with Otomí Indian Conín, the chief Jilotepec, to found the town of Querétaro. He is said to have won without resorting to arms after seeing a vision of the Cross and Saint James the Great ("Santiago"), after whom the city was named.  In 1656 the city was re-named "The Noble and Loyal City of Santiago of Querétaro", by Viceroy the Duke of Alburquerque. The title was confirmed in 1712 by King Philip V of Spain.  In 1726 an aqueduct was constructed which furnished the city's water until 1970...

Mision Juriquilla, Querétaro
Hotel Misión Querétaro Juriquilla is located 15 kilometers from historic downtown Querétaro in central Mexico. Querétaro, the capital of Querétaro state, is famous for its 18th century aqueduct and numerous colonial landmarks. The aqueduct has gained national recognition as the symbol of the city. Built of local sandstone, its highest arch soars 75 feet above current- day street level. The aqueduct was put into service in 1738, furnishing water to the convents and filling the public fountains. Guests will surely want to visit the Plaza de la Independencia, known locally as Plaza de los Perros in honor of the four stone dogs that flank the central fountain. Outdoor cafes line the perimeter of the plaza and wide walkways lead from the plaza to the main streets of downtown Querétaro.

Quinta Zoe is located in Querétaro, Mexico, one-half block from the city center. The property is one block from the Plaza de Armas, featuring traditional porticoes and houses several centuries old.
