Casa
R offers a charming slice of Mexico that can't be found in the hustle and
bustle of other Yucatan tourist destinations. Casa R affords privacy and
quiet within easy distance of sightseeing, scuba, snorkeling, fishing,
bird watching, restaurants, and Mayan ruins. During your stay at Casa R
you can enjoy both the privacy of having your own beachfront villa and
the security of knowing you will be well taken care of. Maid service is
provided six days a week at Casa R by our housekeeper, Maria, who lives
close by. Bernardino, our groundskeeper, provides general maintenance and
care of the property; including regular clean up of any seaweed that accumulates
on the beach. Nighttime security is provided for the duration of your stay
and our property manager, Gina, will come by during your first 24 hours
to say hello, answer any questions you may have, and assist with any requests.
Gina is fluent in both English and Spanish. Finally, for an additional
charge, a cook is available.
The
Grounds and Beachfront at Casa R
Casa
R is nestled between sea grape trees and coco palms, through which you
can see the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The exterior of the villa
is peach stucco with Mexican terracotta roof tiles and white trim, with
beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea. Situated on a spectacular stretch
of white sand beach, The gardens and grounds are beautiful with a tiled
swimming pool, picture-perfect white sand beach and a stand of coconut
palms that frames the magnificent view of the Caribbean. On the beach,
you will find comfortable lounge chairs, along with several hammocks for
your siesta by the sea. The sugar fine sand is free of the rocks that exist
on many other Yucatan beaches. Tankah III abounds with coral and fish and
has a distant outer reef break that limits the surf on windy days. As a
result, snorkeling and kayaking are excellent, especially directly in front
of the villa. Guests are welcome to use the two sea kayaks provided at
the house.
A
Spacious, Comfortable House
Casa
R is a charming and comfortably appointed four-bedroom home featuring a
spacious kitchen, with adjoining dining room and living room. Casa R's
three ground floor bedrooms are as follows: 1) a master suite with king
sized bed, private bathroom, and private, screened glass door with views
and access out to the garden and ocean; 2) a junior suite with a queen
sized bed, also featuring a private screened glass door with views and
access out to the garden and ocean. This room shares a bathroom with the
following; 3) a ground floor bedroom with a full sized and a single bed,
lovely views of the lush garden and a shared bathroom. Upstairs, there
is a second master suite with a king sized bed and spacious private bath.
French doors lead onto a rooftop terrace. The deck has marvelous views
of the Caribbean and is a comfortable place to socialize, star gaze, suntan
or simply sit and enjoy the sea breezes.
Casa
R's spacious kitchen is well equipped for guests who want to prepare their
own meals. For an additional charge, an on-site cook is available. The
house features both a dining counter and a beautifully furnished dining
room. The comfortable living room features an entertainment armoire with
a television and CD/DVD player. We provide 10-12 DVD's and you are also
welcome to rent/bring your own favorites. Satellite service is provided
and there is also a library with books and games. Every room has a ceiling
fan and, although they are seldom necessary, there are air conditioners
in each of the bedrooms.

The
Tankah III area
Although
very quiet and private, Tankah III has three charming restaurant/bars a
short walk from Casa R. Casa Cenote is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and features
fresh seafood, steaks, and a variety of excellent Mexican dishes. The Blue
Sky Hotel serves breakfast and dinners, specializing in gourmet Italian
and international cuisine. Nearby, Oscar Y Lalo's is world famous for its
off-the-beaten track fresh-Mex seafood. The restaurants are so delicious
and delightful, that you may choose to spend your entire stay in the Tankah
III area. Also notable in Tankah III is the Manatee Cenote, a wonderfully
refreshing, freshwater swimming/snorkeling/diving spot located out the
back door of Casa Cenote and a mere .25 miles from Casa R. This world class
freshwater swimming experience should not be missed - you can swim with
tropical fish, cormorants, and maybe even catch a glimpse of the cenote's
namesake, the lovely manatee. A shop next to Casa Cenote rents equipment
for diving and snorkeling.
The
historic Tulum ruins are located approximately ten minutes south of Tankah
III. The town of Tulum offers a wealth of native culture in its local restaurants
and market place. For city attractions, the seaside town of Akumal is located
15 minutes north by car and the major tourist town of Playa del Carmen
